We have had a really busy yet fun Month of July here at the Bed and Breakfast Grecia.
We had guests from Chicago, Texas, Boston, Virginia, California, Florida, Panama, Holland, Australia, Canada, France etc.. The ages ranged from 9 months old to 86 years old and everything in between! It’s great to see that people are not intimidated by age to travel to new and interesting places. They also were from such diverse backgrounds too. Although I do not judge or define a person by what they do for a living because we all do something “important” for mankind whether you pick bottles from trash for a living (I consider them as recyclers) or a Doctor saving lives. However I do find it interesting to find out what people do or did do to pass their time on this great place we call earth. It’s also pretty cool that people from such diverse backgrounds and places can come to the B and B Grecia and chat for hours without any egos or ugly stereotypes because one is less formally educated or has a socially perceived less important job. We have had the opportunity to host movie producers, lawyers, Doctors, grocery store clerks, vets, business people, students, artists, scientists, realtors, police, psychologists (I can’t help but think they are analyzing me and my craziness!)  and the list goes on and on from all walks of life. The really great thing is that they are all really neat people to meet and get to know, even for such a short time as a night or two.

We did some cool tours in July  too. The Catarata Del Toro is on of my favorite places to go in Costa Rica. It is a 300 ft waterfall within an ancient volcano crater. The hike down brings up the heart rate, and once you are at the bottom, it is an amazing place that feels like Jurassic Park once you hike down. Even looking at it from the restaurant is breathtaking.
We went zip-lining through the jungle, spent time at La Paz Watergardens taking in all the Flora and Fauna. They have all the wildlife that call Costa RIca home. While it is great to see them wild in the jungle, a person will never be able to see all of them, not would they want too! For my health, I would rather pass on given the opportunity to see a Jaguar, Fer de Lance snake or a puma in the wild up close!!
I had an adventure crazy 5′ Aussie do the bungee, waterfall rappel, La Paz, Poas volcano, Canopy, Catarata Del Toro, the beach, Sarchi and Zarcero all in 4 days. She was awesome to hang out with!
There seems to be more and more people coming down to Costa Rica to see if it is right for them to move here and retire here too. Some are taking in such seminars as the www.ARCR.net and the International Living Magazine one held periodically in San Jose. The usually are staying here in Grecia instead of San Jose so they can get  to get experience small town Costa Rica which is the ideal spot to settle down in.

Rachelle and I went to a friend’s wedding too. It was a lot of fun to get to meet new and interesting people, many of which were expats from all different places and lifetyles. It was also somewhat nice for me to change out of my usual shorts and flip flops and into something a little more formal.. Can’t remember the last time I I wore long pants and socks!
For the most part the weather has been normal for this time of year, Sunny in the mornings, then it clouds over and rains between 1 and 2 pm then dries up around 6 pm. It’s perfect for afternoon siestas!
If you have never been to Costa Rica, Come down! The water is warm and the people are friendly. If you are passing through this way, stop by and say hi or stopover for a night or ten! We would love to meet you.
Cheers,
Denny
